Installing a Flashing Kit in a 2022 Classic Bell Tent, Tipi or A-Frame Shelter
From 2022 onwards, all Homecamp Classic Bell Tents, Tipis and A-Frame Shelters (the annex accessory for the A-Frame) come with a pre-cut hole that is finished with fireproof binding (webbing) and made to fit a double-wall pipe snugly. This setup would support just the pipe exiting the tent, however, we recommend incorporating a Flashing Kit to prevent water from leaking between the double-wall pipe and the canvas. The Flashing Kit also provides a bit more stability to your setup.
When using a Flashing Kit with a pre-cut hole you will need to follow these simple steps:
Step 1.
If not already detached, unscrew the bolts from your Flashing Kit and remove the silicone sleeve.
Step 2.
Take a marker pen and one of the stainless steel rings.
Use the ring as a template and hold it in position around the hole already cut into your canvas.
Using your pen mark the position of each of the holes as this is where you will make an incision to receive the bolts.
Step 3.
Use a sharp tool (eg. knife tip, skewer, drill, awl etc) to pierce through the canvas to create guide holes for the Flashing Kit bolts.
Step 4.
Clamp the two rings on either side of the canvas and place the Flashing Kit silicone sleeve on the outside of your tent (if you have erected the tent it will be useful to have someone to help for this part of the job).
Align the stainless steel rings, push the bolts through and tighten the nuts. You now should have a Flashing Kit in place ready to receive a Double Wall Pipe!
